Announcing our first two scholarships at Dine College.
The Buddy Whitethorne Foundation (BWF) haspartnered with Diné College to offer two scholarships inthe amount of $600 to two enrolled Diné College juniorsor seniors.
Baje Whitethorne Sr., president of BWF, said he is happyto offer the first two scholarships made possible by thegenerous donations of supporters and the art communityat-large. “We look forward to continuing this importantwork to provide financial assistance and mentorshipopportunities to our emerging and aspiring artists” saidBaje.
**Update – both of our scholarships have gone unclaimedand the Board voted to extend the deadline to apply!Applications can be submitted online through the DinéCollege scholarship portal.
Art of the People artist KyleYazzie donates portion of grant to foundation
Wrights Indian Art and the Native Arts Community Grantwould like to congratulate Kyle Yazzie, co-winner of theInaugural Community Grant Art recipient. The foundation received a portion of the proceeds that Kyle won – we couldnot be more thankful.
Son gifts frames and supplies in the name of his late father, world renowned Peruvian artist Victor Martinez
The Buddy Whitethorne Foundation (BWF)received a donation of art supplies from FranciscoMartinez. Francisco is the son of world renownPeruvian Artist; Victor Martinez. Mr. VictorMartinez passed on and his son, Francisco chose theBWF to receive his father’s art supplies. TheFoundation received frames, canopies, easels, mats,and other art supplies. The Whitethorne familypicked up the supplies in Phoenix in May of 2021.The Foundation is humbled and appreciative of thedonation and will use the donation to further themission of the BWF! Thank you, Mrs. VictorMartinez and Francisco.

OneAZ Community Foundation Awards BWF “Together is Better” Grant
The Buddy Whitethorne Foundation applied and wasawarded $5000.00 from the OneAz CommunityFoundation. OneAz Credit Union is dedicated to servingcredit union members and helping to make Arizonacommunities better places to live, work and play. Since2015, the OneAz Community Foundation has given over$600,000.00 to nonprofit organizations across Arizona.The BWF received notification on August 2, 2021 that wewere the recipient of the “Together is Better” grant. TheFoundation will continue to work with and mentor youthgroups to help enrich their lives with art education.Thank you OneAz!
